2022 Year in Review!!!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! Welcome one and all to 2022!!!! You know the drill, or at least I hope you do. Read through my year, leave a comment at the end or a memory that I may have missed. As much as I try to keep up with this review throughout the course of the year I do tend to fall off updating it and then have to go back and try and remember all the cool stuff I did. If I forgot something PLEASE add it below as I want to remember everything, especially if it involved YOU!!! Sound good??? Cool, its 2022 Review Time!!!
Jan- Ringing in the new year back home in Wisconsin, in Milwaukee to spend a very late Christmas with the Nowak Family!! My cousin Lisa hosted the festivities with Chris and Cameron!! Great hanging with the fam (Auntie Kim, Justin, Mia, Ana, Uncle Mark, Dan, Amanda and Mom) playing Taboo and as always the Nowak Gift Exchange. After the festivities I crash with Dan and Amanda (and Annie, their doggo) as I have a very early flight the next morning. We hung out, had some drinks, watched the snow fall, and took a brief nap. Early the next morning I trudge through the snow, hop in my Lyft and its off to the Airport. Thankfully everything was on time and I got back to NYC without an issue. Back in NYC and its right off to COVID test for work. After a quick fitting its time for my first gig of 2022 on Law and Order: Organized Crime. Nothing like working outside on a cold and rainy day. Kevin and I are playing "Loyalists" and pretending to pull a job stealing blueprints. Fun and easy day, thanks to Ian for having me. A week later its back on set to finish up filming the blueprint stealing for Law & Order. This time we are up in White Plains NY in an actual records storage center. This place was huge and had TONS of old ledgers, books, boxes, was pretty cool actually. Kevin and I do our running away and then I smack Rick with a crowbar, all in a days work haha. After work I give Kevin a ride back to Brooklyn. Next up the first new Brewery stop of the new year as I meet Aaron and Alex at 902 Brewing Co. in Jersey City NJ. Very tasty brews. After a couple beers we head out to Pilsener Haus & Biergarten for some more beers and some food. We are joined by the amazing Hannah, whom I haven't seen in so long and what a wonderful time it was catching up. Afterwards it was off to Aaron and Alex's place for some movie hanging fun. Chelsea stops by for a quick hang session to close out the month. We even did a TKD workout together in my workout space, was a lot of fun!!
Congratulations if you have made it this far and thanks so much for reading about my year. Per usual if I missed something in this recap please feel free to add it in the comments. I hope all of you enjoy reading this as much as I enjoy spending time with you all and making memories together. All my love to you and yours and a very Happy 2023!!!
Feb- I head out and meet up with Aaron and Chelsea at Barcade for some drinks and fun. Shortly there after Rachel joins the fun. We walk down to Mad For Chicken to get some food and then Roy joins in the fun. After food and more drinks we load up in my car and go to the Williamsburg Hotel and hang and drink on the rooftop for an epic night. Finally I meet up with my bestie Lauren for some beer at 5th Hammer Brewing. Then off to get some Chicken and Waffles at Sweet Chick. After that Lauren has to leave for a work session so I head to Five Boroughs Brewing to meet up with the team (Kevin, Jeremy, Trevor, Joel, Justin, Sean and Evan) for some more beers. Then we all head out to Canal Bar for a few more drinks and meet up with Marissa and Kelsey. Also, don't ever take a dead guys pizza, even if its offered to you haha. I meet up with Aaron and Chelsea again for an afternoon of Jackass at Alamo Drafthouse. Hilarious by the way, and then some food at the Dekalb Market. Its time once again for Superbowl Weekend, this years begins by meeting up with Lauren at Wild East Brewing Co. for some pre-weekend beers. We take a walk around Bay Ridge to enjoy the warm day and grab lunch at Lock Yard where Aaron joins in the fun. Superbowl Sunday begins with Lauren and I doing our traditional bagels and breakfast as we prep the apartment for some guests. Aaron checks in as we go to Lock Yard to pick up 100 plain wings as we will be doing the Hot Ones 10 Wing challenge before the game. Jenna and Dan are waiting when we get back and then Chelsea, Jeremy and Kelsey round out the group. Despite the extreme fire in our mouths we managed to make it through all 10 wings/sauces!! (those who participated and yes I made it through) It was fun but also very hot haha. The game did not disappoint as we all enjoyed the show. Alas its not all fun and games as I get summoned for Jury Duty. I pick up Paige on the way as she drops me off at the court house. Thankfully after a few hours of sitting and waiting, no jurors were needed, so I'm safe for another 8 years haha. I hang out with Paige afterward and catch up. Next Chelsea and I head to Bryant Park for some Ice Skating as we are both going to be on an upcoming episode of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel as drunken Ice Skaters haha. Was fun hanging and skating with my buddy! The next day I take a drive out to Stroudsburg PA for some hanging time with Alexa, Christine, Hannah, Aaron and Alex. Was so amazing to spend time with these ride or die friends and watch a movie and hang. We all crashed at Alexa and Christine's place and then had our recovery coffee in the morning haha. After that its in the car for a drive up to Syracuse NY for a job doing stunts on It's a Wonderful Binge. Once I get checked into my hotel in Syracuse I grab a bite and a beer at The Hops Spot. The next day and last day of February it's time for work as I meet up with Leigha and her awesome kids Makenna and Thomas for some covid tests before heading to set. I finally get my hair cut to match one of the kids on set as it was ridiculously long and the longest it has ever been in my life. Was a great day of fun with Riley, Al, Leigha and her kids. We got to do some real fun stuff including me flying into a bunch of Christmas Trees haha.
March- Bright and early the first morning of March, I have to get on the road as I have to do a Covid test for Maisel back in Brooklyn and a fitting, where I run into Drew and Becca, looks like a lot of good friends are going to be on this job :) After my fitting I stop by Paige's place to say "Hi" as I parked right by her apartment, and little did I know it just happened to be her Birthday, I mean no I knew it the whole time haha. Well then lets have some birthday fun as we went to lunch at Evelina and then to Alamo Drafthouse to see Jackass. It was Paige's first time back in a movie theater in NYC and that's all she wanted for her birthday, Happy I could make it happen. Next up my cousin Dan comes to NYC with his buddy Jason to Celebrate his 40th Birthday so I meet up with them, Amanda, John and Lexi at Union Square Cafe for a fancy dinner. After dinner we roam around and grab a beer at McSorleys and then a cocktail at Beetle House (which unfortunately was not as fun as the one in LA, oh well) before we call it a night. The next day I meet Dan, Amanda, Jason, John and Lexi at Five Boroughs to show them the brewery and have some drinks before they all wrap up their weekend. Afterward I head into the city and meet up with Aaron, Alex, Lauren and Jenna for an epic night of Koren BBQ at Jongro followed by Karaoke at Ms Kims! Its rehearsal time for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel as I head to Chelsea Piers Skyrink to spend a day on the ice. I was joined by quite a few performers (Ashley, Greg, Nico, Caroline, Thea, Nikki, Lisa, Ed, Bryce, Drew, Becca, Taylor and of course Turner) as we worked out some stuff for an upcoming episode. We will be shooting over 2 overnights on the Rink at Rockefeller Center!! Night 1 we are joined by another 20+ stunt performers (including Hannah and Chelsea) on the ice as we set up for a long evening of slipping and sliding. I got to do a stand out gag of being pushed in a chair by Ashley and then dumping the chair over on to the ice. Be sure to look out for that haha. Was such a great time to have such a big call with so many friends/peers as that doesn't seem to happen that often anymore. Not to mention it was my first time on the Rink at Rockefeller and the only way I was going to do it haha. Time for some St Paddys Day fun as I meet up with Lauren and Joanne at Fraunces Tavern. We have lunch and a few beverages before we continue to The Dead Rabbit. We got prime standing room on their 2nd Floor Cocktail bar, The Parlor, and had some amazing cocktails. Afterward Lauren and I went back to Fraunces Tavern to close out the night at their Piano Bar. Such fun. The next day its off to covid test for Blacklist in Chelsea. Afterward I decided to stop by my old Best Buy store and have a walk around and I ran into the lovely Irene. She is pretty much the only one still around after all these years that I have been away so it was wonderful to see her and chat a little bit. Working on Blacklist again as I get shot in the head and fall backwards in my office chair. One take and done for our stunt crew. It was wonderful to work with Cort again, as well as Jamie, Kage, Abra, Leigha and Jamal. Its time for my Besties Birthday as Aaron and I meet up with Lauren at Clinton Street Baking Company for some Birthday Brunch!! After Brunch we headed to Astoria for some Bowling, Air Hockey and Arcade game fun at Bowl 360 Astoria. After hanging at Lauren's place for a bit we went back into the city for a Birthday Dinner at Gnoccheria and some last bit of fun playing skeeball at Ace Bar. Such a wonderful day with the Birthday Bestie!!! Next up a huge blast from the past as I meet up with Shayna! I haven't seen her in a few years and we got a chance to reconnect, walk around Lower Manhattan and have a couple drinks and catch up at The Spotted Owl. Was so nice to catch up with her. The end of this month I drive over to Lauren's to crash before its up early the next morning to take our long awaited, many times pushed back trip to Mexico for Mecca's Wedding!! First leg is New York to St. Louis, followed by St. Louis to Cancun! The flight to Mexico was a fun one as they did a raffle for free shots (Lauren Won) and played party games on the flight, that's a first haha. Finally in Mexico as we try to figure out our ground transport in a damn sea of crazy, after going back and forth and back and forth we finally get a van to take us to the resort, The El Dorado Casitas, after picking up Andy as well :) We check in to the resort and try to find food which at the time of arrival seemed to be a chore as only 1 restaurant was open at the time which was a Japanese place haha. We are joined by Aaron and Alex shortly there after, then start to see all the other guests as we find Mecca and Shannon at one of the bars!! Let the party begin!! The first night there I got pretty toasty hanging with all these amazing wonderful people, and finishing the night with Lauren, Aaron, Alex, Jake and Alex, what a good and hilarious time.
April- It's April and what a way to start the month than in a pool in Mexico with a swim up bar and some amazing friends. Also Happy Birthday to Jake!! Lauren and I take the day to walk around the resort and explore our surroundings and get food. We also play some giant chess, get some smoothies, find a hammock, and just all in all enjoy ourselves. I also finally get to meet Tony for the first time haha, he is the man by the way. Next its finally the big day to see Mecca and Shannon finally wed after a 2 year Covid delay!! We all dressed in our finest beach attire and took our seats on the beach to watch these 2 wonderful people wed. It was a beautiful day and a beautiful ceremony, followed by a ton of drinking, fine food and dancing, Oh the dancing!! At the end of the reception fully clothed and sweaty we all jumped into the nearby pool to cap off the night!! Amazing! The day was filled with so much and love and practically the entire stunt community in NYC was in attendance, a feat only Mecca would be capable of. After the walk back to our room, I was surprised by a full on decoration extravaganza that Lauren did to celebrate my 40th Birthday! The room was covered in streamers and balloons that she was able to not only transport to Mexico but decorate without my knowledge, well done!! It meant the world to me and I couldn't ask for a better bestie! Jake, Alex, Aaron and Alex all joined the room for Midnight Birthday Hugs!! That morning I had a birthday breakfast with my bestie. Afterwards we had to covid test in order to return home to the states, which was an "event" but all worked out in the end. That night Jake, Alex, Aaron, Alex, Lauren and I all attended a culinary dinner theater. It was fun and the food was delicious but I may have over indulged in the drinks as I don't remember the last courses haha. What fun was had in Mexico and thus is must come to an end as we fly back home. Back in New York and back to the real world as Lauren joins me for our Easter weekend. After the Easter Morning sticky buns, which is a family tradition, we head out to Coney Island to take in a Brooklyn Cyclones game. It wasn't quite baseball weather yet as it was very chilly out, but we did take home an Easter colored baseball, so that was neat. Oh and the Cyclones won! Next on the agenda its back to a training session with the one and only Brian Smyj hosted by Stunt Listing. It was fun to see so many peers and new faces here, but most of my day was making sure everyone was safe. Including testing out Brian's new ratchet by being the first one on it, of course, haha. Much fun was had and after the training a bunch of us (Chelsea, Victoria, Anthony, Levon, Frank and others) went out to Bridge and Tunnel Brewing for some post training drinks. I meet up with Jeremy, Kelsey, Evan and Marissa at Okeefe's Bar and Grill to watch the Bucks and the Bulls clash in the NBA Playoffs. The Bucks were victorious, of course, haha. After the game I head to NJ and join Aaron, Alex, Hannah and Alexa for the long lost art of Movie Night at Aaron and Alex's home in his new "Theater Room" and the movie of choice, Raiders of the Lost Ark, naturally. That about wraps up April, I get back on a training regimen as my weight has slowly creeped up over the years so start working out to correct that.
May- This month starts out very boring as I'm running, working out daily and not doing anything else as I try to get back into my lean mean form. No drinking, extreme dieting, ya know the things ya do haha. Until mid month I have to run into the city to Covid test for a job. After I test I head into Brooklyn to hang/catch up with Paige, but my low tire pressure light comes on. So I stop at a shop and find out that I need new tires as they are all pretty worn. Funny how I get my car serviced every single year and nothing was mentioned to me about that but whatever haha. After catching up I head out for the night to catch Ashley and Katie in their band Kingkween, which will likely be their last performance for a while as Katie is due to have a baby very soon!!! Aaron came as well and we enjoyed a wonderful show and a good hang with good friends. Aaron, Natalie and I head to Nitehawk in Prospect Park to take in a film, unfortunately is was the new Doctor Strange which we all thought was horrendous. Like really really bad, oh well, cant win em all I guess, and I'm kinda done with Superhero stuff anyways. Next up is the job that I mentioned, which is to test out an underwater rig for the one and only Peter Dinklage!! Basically falls into the water and has some under water acting to do, so we had to figure out how to keep him under but suspended in place so the camera could move in from afar. We had an ankle bracelet with a weighted plat at the bottom of the pool on a line that would do the trick. I will say that Peter is one of the coolest guys I have worked with, very chill, very funny, and just a really good dude. Once I showed him what we were doing and he took over, it was my job to get him out of the water after each take. When we were done, Peter thanked me, by name mind you, which is rare haha and that was it. Thanks Chris as this was very much a fanboy day for me. After we wrapped I stopped at Lauren's for some dinner and some hang time. Next up I head out to celebrate Kelsey graduating from college. Her family rented an AirBnB in Brooklyn so I went and hung with her and Jeremy, Trevor and Evan. Rounding out the night with a stop at Circa Brewing which was ok, very much seemed the bartender didn't want business haha. To close out the month for Memorial Weekend I drove up to see Jake and Alex's newly purchase home up in Roscoe NY. Aaron and Alexa also came. Cute little town, and house as we chilled, grilled, shot all the guns and bows and then went to Catskills Brewing for some drinks. The next day to continue Memorial Weekend I drove to Alexa and Christine's in Stroudsburg PA for more fun/gathering. Had a blast hanging with all the fine folk (Jason, Alice, Samantha, Kimmy, Hannah, Greg, and of course Aaron and Alex)
June- Well its June and this month starts off pretty slow. Working at the brewery, going for runs, walking around my neighborhood and stumbling on a street fair with lots of live music. I meet up with Lauren for an afternoon hang in McCarren park, just to wander and chat. I head to Greenwood Park to have some afternoon hang and drinks with the Five Boroughs staff. Next up is Citi Field as the Brewers are in town to play the Mets. Lauren and I go to the first game, and of course my Brewers lost :( womp womp. I head back out to Citi Field with Evan, Marissa, Jeremy, and Trevor for game 3 of the Brewers and Mets and yet again my Brewers lost. Of course they won game 2 that I didn't go to so yeah, such is life haha. Just before I am about to fly home to Wisconsin for a belated 40th Birthday celebration with my family I get requested to self tape for 3 roles on the new Walking Dead spinoff series. I quick film and edit those and send them off so I don't have to worry about it while I'm back home. Then after a quick hang with Lauren, I head to the airport and fly back home to Wisconsin. Tia and I both fly into O'Hare and then its off to Duesterbecks for some trivia to get things started. We did ok, we finished middle of the pack. The next day I ride with Blaine out to pick up fresh strawberries and get to ride and drive his newly restored 1964 Chevy Impala. He drove out, I drove back. Love getting to drive these old boats. Next the Fam (Tia, Blaine, Mom and I) drive up to Waunakee and visit The Lone Girl Brewing Company for lunch. Next up its Milwaukee to welcome Jake to town for my celebration. He met up with us at Explorium Brewpub where the Fam and I had lunch and some beers. After lunch Tia, Jake and I walked to go check Jake into his hotel at The Ambassador. We hop a cab ride back into downtown and grab a quick drink at The Milwaukee Public Market before walking over to Cafe Benelux for more drinks and some snacks on the rooftop and to meet up with Jenna!! From there we all walk to the Hilton to check into a room, then its off for more drinking, this time its fancy cocktails at Bryants! Always an amazing experience at this place! After our amazing cocktail experience we head out on foot again and stop at Broken Bat Brewing Company for a quick beer. Then continue on to The Wicked Hop for some dinner and of course more beer. After this stop we finally retire to our hotels and call it a day. The next morning we all have breakfast at Build-a-Breakfast before we walk to the Summerfest grounds. We make a quick stop at the Milwaukee Art Museum for a photo op before we head to The Worlds Largest Music Festival. We lucked out as today was "Free Before 3pm Day" so we got in for free! Let the live music, beer and food begin! We spent all day wandering around stoping to watch random live music acts. The first big one was "Quiet Riot" at which my brother Nick and my Mom joined our party. Next we caught "Johnny Wads" a cover band that has been playing at Summerfest for many many years. After this Nick and Mom left and we were joined by Jared and Calvin who had just arrived from NYC. Once gathering those boys, we went over to catch "Warrant." Then closed out the long day by seeing "The Violent Femmes" and finally "DJ Dillon Francis." Epic day with epic humans, but still more to come. The next day its breakfast again at the same spot, followed by some pregame beers at the hotel bar where we welcome Joanne to the party crew! We hop into an Uber and head out to Miller Park (American Family Field) to meet up with my friends and family for a Party Suite at the game. We do a pregame tailgate in the parking lot with a spread by Tall Guy and a Grill, a catering company that my cousin Dan owns. I was joined for this belated 40th Birthday Celebration by so many friends and family that it was simply overwhelming. High school friends Carl, Aaron, Andy and Krystal, Nick (whom I haven't seen in years) Stunt friends Jake, Joanne, Jenna, Calvin and Jared and of course my family Mom, Blaine, Tia, Nick, Kathy & Steve, Kim, Josh, Justin, Mark, Dan & Amanda, Lisa & Chris all hanging together in a party suite and watching the Brewers win again the Blue Jays! I even had a Happy 40th Birthday wish up on the scoreboard. This whole event meant the world to me and I thank everyone who made it possible. After the game a bunch of us went out to a new local brewery Ope! Brewing to have some beers, play some cornhole and darts. Really large and awesome space here, check it out! Finally the night and the weekend comes to a close as we finish up at the hotel bar and everyone heads to their respective homes. The next day Mom and Nick pick me up from the hotel and we have brunch at Cafe Benelux before heading back home to Milton. That night I go out with the fam to catch my newly released film, The Black Phone in theaters. Was pretty cool to see all the finished work with my family. Turned out amazing! Time to head back to NYC as Nick drives me to the airport and thus concludes the amazing month of June.
July- July begins as I drive to pick up Lauren and we head out to New Jersey to see Mecca and Shannon's new place for a 4th of July Pool Party. Lots of friends were in attendance as we swam, ate and drank as you do. I have to head into the city quick to Covid test for work on Law and Order before heading to Coney Island to meet up with Jake and Alex for a Brooklyn Cyclones game. We got beer bats and enjoyed a nice game of baseball followed by a walk along the boardwalk and some drinks at Rubys. Next up I head into Manhattan to work on Law and Order with Norm, Paige, Nikki, Koji and Alex. We did some running out of a subway station. We wrapped pretty early so Paige, Nikki and I all went to lunch together at Evelinas. Next up is a job working on the new show Mr. and Mrs. Smith. This is and overnight shoot up in White Plains doing a small car sequence through traffic. Pretty simple stuff and was a good time getting to work with Stephen Pope again and all the other fun people that were there (Alex, Wadi, Nicole, Samantha, Ashley, Danny and more.) I even got to meet Tara for the first time, who is kind of a big deal and she is amazing haha!! Next up another job on Law and Order OC this time out in Queens. This was a scene depicting the Russian invasion of Ukraine. I was part of a Ukrainian family thats gets shot up. The family was so much fun though as Brian and Gina were Grandpa and Grandma, Bob and Shawnna were Mom and Dad, and Leigha and I were Daughter and Son, quite hilarious of a stunt family. We all died well haha. There were tons of other stunt people working that day including Jenna, Joanne, Stephen, Salar, Peter, Luis, George, Mick, ect ect ect. Finally this month Lauren and I meet up with Jake and Alex as we grab some food at The Wicked Monk. Then we drive out to Staten Island and go to Flagship Brewery before we go to see our first Staten Island Ferryhawks baseball game. Fun time as per usual with wonderful friends.
August- This month begins pretty slow with the first few days going on runs, working at the brewery, and just hanging out with myself haha. Then I meet up with Jeremy, Evan and Trevor from the brewery at Coney Island Brewery to catch a Brooklyn Cyclones game for Trevor's Birthday! We had a blast drinking and hanging at the game and then at Nathans afterward. Next I take a stroll in my neighborhood and meet up with Peter to grabs some beers and celebrate his birthday ay Three Jolly Pigeons. Was great to catch up and know that he lives in my neighborhood now. The next day I meet up with Jake for an afternoon hang. We start at Radegast Beer Hall for some beer and lunch. After lunch we walk over to a new mini golf spot called The Putting Green for some friendly competition. I beat Jake by one stroke on the final hole haha. After mini golf we went to Other Half Brewery for some beers. Then off to The Levee for Jake to get his revenge on me at pool. All though we did team up and beat a few others. Next we stop in to The Tailgate for more beer and for Jake to beat me at Cornhole haha. Alex meets up with us as we finish the day with some sushi at Ako. What a wonderful day it was. Next a stop in to the eye doctor as I was due for a check up and having issues with my right eye. I was put on contact rest for 2 weeks and had to put this jelly stuff in it as well, that was interesting as I navigated the life of being a full time glasses wearer which i havent really done since elementary school. While out for a run in my glasses I ran into Peter on a bike ride. I stopped to say hi and chit chat only to discover that he had a flat tire on his bike. I went with him back to his place, and had some conversation before I finished my run back home. Lauren drops in for a weekend to have a bestie weekend hang. We tried some new spots in my hood that I have never tried before, after lunch at Lock Yard of course. Townhouse 275 was first up as we were drinking delicious cocktails and being told jokes by a very old odd bartender who obviously needed attention, it was very weird haha. The next morning we checked out The Common for breakfast, which had quite the diverse menu and was very delicious. Then its off to Coney Island Brewery and a Brooklyn Cyclones Game! Next up I meet the Brewery Boys (that's fun, Jeremy, Kelsey and Trevor) at The Commissioner for a hang and some cocktails. Followed by a trip back to Five Boroughs to see Joe and Oneg, former employees of the brewery. Next I drive up to Astoria to hang with Lauren and head out to The Bohemian Beer Gardern to celebrate Stephen's Birthday! Was so good to see him and so many others that I hadn't seen in a while (Alec, Nancy, Jared, Amber, Calvin, Dana, Frank, ect.) Fun way to end a fun month!!
September- This month begins by stopping by Argus to grab Lauren, and then going into the city to celebrate Oktoberfest at South Street Seaport!! Such a good time with a HUGE pretzel, wurst sampler and we even got to take home our steins!! Then midway through the month I board a plane and fly out to Los Angeles!! Its been a while since I was last out in LA so it was time for a return trip. Upon landing in LA, I get my rental and drive to see Chris and Bethany, whom are always kind enough to let me stay in their guest room. Upon my arrival Chris and I go check out Brewery Draconum for a catch up late lunch and some brews!! Next day its time for a long run up through the mountains to kick off my LA visit, and some brunch with Chris and Bethany at Egg Plantation. Next up Chris, Bethany and I go check out a local brewery, Pocock Brewing, for some beers and pizza!! Time to get all dressed up as I get to attend my first Taurus World Stunt Awards at Paramount Pictures. Drew picks me up and we head into the shindig. What an amazing night filled with so many amazing talents from all over the world, it was quite stunning to be honest. I was happy to run into Philippe, Denney, Kara, Julianna, Kelli, Heidi, Josh, Max, Kachina, Noelani and meet/catch up with so many other amazing humans. It was simply an incredible experience I can wait to go back next year! The very next day Chris and I head to Sofi Stadium to see the LA Rams take on his Atlanta Falcons. What an incredible stadium and the game turned out to be a good one coming down to the final seconds, but the Rams took the W. Next Chris and I head out again only this time to go to Dodger Stadium to see a Dodgers game and check off this ballpark as the 24th MLB Stadium I have been to. The Dodgers lost 2-5 to the Diamondbacks. The next day I come down with a wicked sore throat and some chills so I just hung and recovered. Another 2 trips to Pocock Brewery and then 8th Rail for some darts and Valencia Lanes for some bowling with Chris and Bethany, love these two humans so much! Joanne lands in LA and picks me up in her Ford Mustang Convertible as we cruise around LA for a while with the top down! Then Chris, Bethany, Joanne and I all head to Universal Studios for my first ever Halloween Horror Nights!! Was pretty funny as they had a house dedicated to Blumhouse which had a whole section for The Black Phone haha. The lines were long and plentiful but we got quite a lot of the horror houses banged out in one night. I get a chance to go out to lunch and catch up with Ilyana at Garden Cafe. I haven't seen her in so long and it was so good to see her and catch up! I have to go get a quick covid test for work back in NYC before I leave LA. Lastly in LA, I meet up with Joanne as I get to be her guest at the Kia Forum for the Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert. Words can not describe the 6 hour long tribute to an amazingly talented drummer. There were so many legends that showed up and formed super groups. I only cried about 4 times during the show, especially when Taylor's son Shane drummed for "My Hero." I will never be able to repay Joanne for this incredible experience that was a once in a lifetime opportunity and I am forever in her debt. Immediately following the concert I returned my rental car and went right to the airport to fly back home. Upon landing in New York I learned that my covid test came back positive, which is a first for me. Meaning I couldn't work on Blacklist, womp womp :( Thus ends an otherwise amazing incredible and stupendous month.
October- Well its back home in NYC and right back to fun as I meet up with Jeremy and Kelsey to celebrate Jeremy's birthday by going to Metlife Stadium for the Giants vs Bears game. Jeremy is a Bears fan. The Giants wound up with the "W" but it did come down to the final play. Next up begins the NYC Brewery Bowling League! Representing Five Boroughs, I head out to The Gutter with Jeremy and Arthur for our first matchup against Threes Brewing and we come away with the victory! I head to Steiner Studios to Covid test for some work on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and thankfully I test negative. Afterward I catch up a little bit with Paige and check out her brand new Ford Bronco! Sweet ride! After a fitting its back to Steiner for a rehearsal as we will be in a traffic jam as actors try to find a cab. Was pretty cool to be behind the wheel in a late 50's/early 60's style cab. Lots of friends and peers round out this job (Aaron, Jenna, Mecca, Bryce, Becca, Salar, Drew, Nico, ect ect ect) I head over to Five Boroughs for the Annual Oktoberfest and compete in the stein holding competition, which I actually wound up winning haha. (if you don't know what that is its holding a full liter of beer in a glass stein with an outstretched arm for as long as you can, I held for over 3 minutes for the win) I meet up with the brewery crew at Wild East for a little hang time, followed by a stop at the always infamous Canal Bar. My good friend Ben visits and brings his dog Marcus whom I get the pleasure of dog sitting for a weekend, such a good boy. Now on to the overnight shoot for Maisel. Watch me deny Tony Shalhoub a ride in the upcoming Season 5. Was a fun night that actually wound up wrapping very early, before Midnight even. These big calls for stunts are always a blast getting to work with so many friends and peers, which are a rarity these days. Another bowling match at The Gutter as we defeat Interboro Brewing who was a no show. Followed again by a match against Torch & Crown Brewing, in which I rolled a 199 and claimed a spot on The Gutter's High Score board! Was so close to breaking into 200 grrr!! My good friend Chelsea heads down to Bay Ridge as we catch up at Lock Yard with some hot dogs and beer. So much fun hanging with this amazing human. To wrap up the month I join forces with Lauren in Astoria and we grab some dinner at The Thirsty Koala. We dine outside as I hear my name and see Natalie passing by with her dog. So good to see her randomly and catch up a bit. From here Lauren and I hop the train and head into the city for our first ever trip to Carnegie Hall to see the one and only Weird Al Yankovic!! Emo Philips was the opening act, who was hysterical! What a beautiful and historical space to be in to see such a wonderfully weird performance. Smiles the whole way through! I crash at Lauren's place and after our bagels from Brooklyn Bagel and Co., its back home to finish out yet another month.
November- Begins with a bowling match at The Gutter against Coney Island, who no showed so we win again. Guess they are just scared haha. I hop in my car and drive over to Aaron's in NJ to pick up the man of the honor as we celebrate him with a bachelor party. I drive him into the night and arrive in the Poconos in an AirBnB where we will be spending the weekend! Hannah, Alexa, Christine and Jake were all there upon our arrival. Later that evening Mecca arrived as we had the most fun going late into the night/early morning. The next day sees the arrival of Jim and Anthony as we have a quick breakfast and then drive out to play some paintball. We meet Mello and Vic upon our arrival at The Paintball Asylum as we all gear up. All of us get to be on the same team as there was another bachelor party there whom we were pitted against. The first match we play capture the flag, and after Anthony got it off the post before being eliminated. I scooped it up and ran it back for the win. We switched sides and yet again won, this time Aaron was the hero grabbing and returning the flag for the win. We continued to play throughout the day and win every match we were put in. I even eliminated someone by landing a direct hit with a paint grenade, which apparently is a rarity. I kind of felt bad for the guy after the fact as they are quite loud haha, oh well. At the end of the day we decided to run the gauntlet, which pits all of us to shoot at Aaron in a "shooting gallery" type situation where he runs across the field and back again with all of us taking aim. He got his revenge when he got to take aim at each of us running the same route while firing 2 guns. This was a mistake as all of us were extremely welted up doing this haha. I have been shot plenty of times by paintballs but this was a whole new level of ouch! After the pain we head back to the house and clean up before we are treated to a fancy home catered dinner. It was delicious! We play cards and have fun well into the night, but unfortunately our late night entertainment fell through. The next morning we all lazed around and took our time getting on the road back home as everyone was pretty spent from the weekends events. What a wonderful weekend with friends! The following weekend was the wedding up in Callicoon NY. Upon arrival we have a BBQ and then a late night out at The Callicoon Brewing Company. The next day I wake up early and wander around the town and have breakfast at the local diner The Callicoon Cafe. I go to brunch with Mecca, Shannon, Emily and Jake at The Western Hotel. After brunch, Jake, Mecca and I stop by the Catskills Distillery for a tasting. Time to get all dressed up as I head back to the room to be surprised by Dan who was able to make the trip and will be sharing the room with Jenna, Dan and I. Finally the wedding is here and yet again a HUGE amount of the NYC Stunt community (far too many to mention) was in attendance to see Aaron and Alex get married in public this time. Beautiful ceremony lead by Jenna, followed by all the dinner and dancing one would expect. Ending the night strong with a Onesie after party around a fire pit. The next morning its breakfast at The Western with Jake, Mecca and Shannon before we all depart for home. Back home and another bowling match against The Bronx Brewery and another victory! The Five Boroughs team all gets together for a little farewell to Mat as we bowl at Melody Lanes and then bar hop the night away at Minnies Bar and Canal Bar. Cue Thanksgiving week as I crash at Lauren's before my very early flight to Wisconsin to celebrate the holiday with my family. Upon landing in Milwaukee and getting picked up by my parents its right to Duesterbecks Brewery for a few rounds and to pick up some beer for Thanksgiving. The Nowak Clan gathers at my parents place to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday with food, drink, fun and football of course. My Uncle Mark, Aunt Kim and Aunt Gail all stay the weekend as we have some drinks at Duesterbecks, play some rousing games of dominoes and Cards Against Humanity and of course Breakfast at MFR(Milton Family Restaurant). Another very early flight and its back to home to NYC I go. I get back just in time for our bowling match against 18th Ward Brewing where we lose unfortunately. Cant win em all I guess.
December- Christmas month is here and we start it off by heading up to Pleasantville NY for the Annual Siverio Stunts Christmas Party! Was so fun to see so many wonderful friends and peers all coming together and donating toys. Big thank you to Manny and his Wife for putting this on every year. I even got to see and catch up with Devin among many many others!! The next day Evan, Jeremy and Kelsey drop in to watch the Bears/Packers game with Beer Dip and Turkey Chili for all. Of course, per usual, the Packers won! Haha. Lots of working at the Brewery this month! I gather the gang, Lauren, Jake, Alex, Mecca, Shannon, Hannah, Allison, Alexa and Christine all over to my place for a Holiday Hang. We order food and mingle over beers, spiked hot chocolate, hot toddies and apple pie moonshine before we all head out to walk the Christmas Lights of Dyker Heights, which has become a yearly tradition. The lights were very impressive as always and I highly recommend checking it out if you never have. After the lights we stopped in to Lock Yard to round out the evening before calling it a night. I head over to Lauren's to park the car for the holidays, have some dinner and a quick holiday hang with my bestie before its off to Wisconsin for the Holiday. I land in Chicago and meet up with Tia as we head home and then out to Duesterbecks for some trivia and beers. We actually finished the game tied for first place and had to go into an overtime question to determine the winner. Unfortunately we lost in OT and took home 2nd place, still a vast improvement from the last time. Cue a winter storm in Wisconsin, but we head out anyways to Riversedge Bowl for some famliy bowling fun. I used my Grandma Bauer's ball and shoes to channel her, but unfortunately didnt have my best games haha. Oh well all in good fun with the family. That night Tia, Nick and I met up with Aaron and Carl at Junction Pub for some beers and a holiday hang/catch up with my awesome High School buddies. Off to Milwaukee for the Nowak Christmas at Dan's place. The Old Fashioneds were flowing and the brisket was just right. Followed by the traditional "letter" prsent gift exchange, I got a leopard blanket haha. Christmas time with the imediate family was spent at home, with presents, games, movies, dinner and drinks, very low key but very fun to have my brother and sister both home for the holidays. After some bad weather nation wide, Tia's flight get cancelled so she gets to stick around for a few more days, hooray for more time together. Aunt Kathy and Steve drop in for dinner and games. Tia, Nick, Mom, Blaine and I go to grab breakfast at MFR. Then Mom, Tia, Nick and I head to the Janesville Ice Arena for some Holiday Ice Skating. The place was packed and we didnt skate too long but still had some fun. Later that night the fam head to Milwaukee Grill to meet up with our former Choir Director, Mr. Bill Schrank for some drinks and a catch up session. Was so good to see this man as he was very influential in my siblings and my life as we all went through Show Choir for 4 years under his tuteledge. Tia finally departs and heads back to Cali, but was awesome to spend a couple extra days with her. Blaine, Nick and I head out to Drafthouse for some beers for lunch, then for dinner Mom joins and we all go to Genisa. The final day of the year Mom, Blaine, Nick and I go to the newly opened Axe Throwing range in Downtown Janesville, Papa Docs, and enjoy some axe throwing fun. The rest of the day was spent low key at home, dropping a tree, having dinner together and just chilling. Thus concludes the year 2022!!
