2013 Year in Review!!

Hello once again everyone and welcome to my yearly recap of the year 2013!! This year I'm writing this a little differently, instead of spending hours at the end of the year recapping, I am updating month by month throughout the year. This will result in a longer recap but with much more details of my year :) I breakdown each month and let you in on all the stuff that happened, good or bad, and who was there, was a part of it, etc.. Just so someday we can all look back and go, "Oh yeah that was AWESOME!!" So sit back, relax and enjoy the journey through my year in 2013!! (I will be very impressed if you read the entire thing, comment at the bottom if you did) (also comment if you have a story to add that I may have missed)

January- I spent the new year with Carl, Viola and my parents home in Wisconsin. We toasted with some bubbly and officially welcomed the new year. Later that day Viola and I head up to see my Grandpa Schultz with my Dad and Nancy. After our visit we get dropped off in Madison to meet up with Carl and Andy to watch the Badgers in the Rose Bowl!! They Lost :( The next day it was time to head back to NYC! I go back to working on the feature film, "The Wolf of Wall Street" and on the final day of shooting, I got to shake the hand of the Director, The one and only Martin Scorsese!! That was an amazing experience and nothing but class from that man!! I also got to meet stunt coordinators George Aguilar and Stephen Pope on set, as well as stunt performer Mark Fichera!! They were all awesome!!! I have to shave my mustache off :( I go to Chelsea Piers and take a Gymnastics class with Jenna, and got in trouble twice for being to "crazy" HAHA!! I continue to rehearse with Stolen Chair for "The Man Who Laughs" and we open the Show for previews on the last day of the month!! Jenna and Hannah dressed in 1920's attire for the opening night preview and Jared came as well!!

February- This month officially starts the run of "The Man Who Laughs" in which I play Young Gywnplaine (the younger version of the title character) Viola came to see the show (twice) as well as many other friends throughout the run: Liz E, David S, David G, Liza, Miriam, Sal, Calvin, Dina, Mimi, Adam, Martin, etc.. The show is met with many MANY rave reviews (I think final tally was like 24 out of 24 reviewers LOVED the show!!) I get to go to Long Island for a day to play a Detective for a re-enactment series that will be on Discovery ID called "Deadly Worlds." I do one night of shooting background on the feature film "Winters Tale." It was pretty cool to be in Grand Central Station after its been closed to the public! I get an email asking if I would be interested to go to India to do a live stunt show and shortly there after I get cast as Bernardo (Zorro's Sidekick) in a Live Stunt Show in INDIA!!! On V-Day Viola and I got to see a screening of 2 silent film clips with live piano accompaniment after one of my performances which was quite awesome! (Buster Keaton Rules!) Unfortunately my Grandpa Schultz passes away this month and I was not able to make it home for the funeral but was very glad I visited him only last month. I also start the Insanity Workout to get ready for my gig in India! Last day of this month I re-connect with my friend and very successful stuntman Mr. Curtis Lyons!

March- Still doing the Insanity workout to get ready for India. V and I go to see a puppet show, and we will leave it at that haha! (I enjoyed her friends performance) I get a couple of close calls to big time stunt gigs on Blue Bloods and even The Amazing Spiderman sequel but unfortunately didn't fit what they were looking for, but making progress!! Had a fun night out with Hannah, Jenna and V and later joined by Brad. V and I go to see the amazing Dave Droxler in Honky and we both laughed our asses off! V and I go out to yet another show "Jackie" which was the first ever 1 person show I have seen, it was descent. St. Paddys day I spent at a really fun Cast Party with most of the people from "The Man Who Laughs" production. I then meet up with the amazing "MWL" actors on Sunday to collaborate on a new piece entitled "Potion." I got to choreograph a small bar fight scene as one of the pieces, it was so much fun haha. I get a call from a commercial for Virgin Atlantic that they want to use me as a stunt guy for a live street performance type thing. I meet Mr. Joseph Spano, who is stunt coordinating the commercial. I have to be in a full hazmat suit and get tossed aside by a giant alien ala "Prometheus" all day long! Alexa Marcigliano and I rocked that hazmat stunt all day long and even had V and Hannah come watch it. V got to be one of the "public testers" I go out to Brooklyn Beast with Hannah for the first time for a workout/parkour funness. Followed the next day by drinking and celebrating Hannah's Birthday which then turned into Aaron's Birthday! Shortly after this Joe gets me into a stunt rigging workshop with the huge stunt coordinator Brian Smyj!! Jenna, Alexa, Aaron, Joe and I all go to the rigging workshop. I spend a day with Brian and many other amazing stunt people (Samantha, Aja, Declan, Jeremy, Aaron, ect.) learning a lot of the basics to ropes for stunt rigging. V and I make sticky buns for Easter and color eggs and I end the month collaborating once again with Stolen Chair for "Potion"

April- Oh boy do I ring in my 31st Birthday! Hannah, V and I all go to the Game of Thrones Exhibition to kick off the day of my Birth. After that it was an Irish Pub, The Apple Store, FAO Schwartz, Sushi, lots of walking and finally a party at The Joshua Tree which included birthday boy drinks free and beer pong. Thanks V for getting me home safe and sound :) The rest of the first week was pretty low key as I slowly packed to prepare for my trip to India. V and I went to dinner the night before I left, then had breakfast and it was in a cab to the airport to fly to India. The flight was long but not too bad as I had a whole row of seats to myself, thank god!. I arrived in Delhi where I met up with Jessica, then it was on to board a plane headed for Chennai. When we arrived we had to wait for 40 minutes out in the heat before we finally found our guy to take us to the park. Then we were off to our living quarters for the next 2 months. The traffic was ridiculous and I soon realized the lines on the road were more guidelines than actual road lines :) Once we arrived we were directed to our rooms by Phil and crashed for a bit. Later that night most of the other cast mates arrived: Ryan, Rich, Shawn and Lauren. We tried to sleep and failed as we all hung out and chatted while minutes ticked by slowly until breakfast. We learned that we had to go to a mall later that day for some kind of flash mob. Actually Eddie was the one who was supposed to go but he got stuck in Japan. So we went and watched a very interesting dance sequence and came up with our own fight scene in the back of the mall and performed that. Then took pictures with whom ever wanted them. Soon after Robert (The director, sort of) arrived and we started putting together our show. We read through the script and then were told to come up with fight scenes, ok well that's a first. Yup you heard it right we choreographed our own fight scenes, of which I had none and was basically told to come up with comedy bits. After delays with construction of the set, costumes having to be re-done, soundtrack issues and props here and there, we finally perform our first show at the end of the month.

May- This month everyday was pretty much the same as it was in full blown show mode with no days off. We performed 4 shows during the weekdays (1:30, 3:00, 4:30 and 6:30) and 5 shows on the weekends (1:30, 3:30, 4:30, 5:30 and 6:30) Our schedule was basically like this all through the month of May, Breakfast at 9am, On Set at 12:30, Dinner after the last show of the day sleep and repeat. We did have a little free time after breakfast and after dinner. Aside from that other events did take place. While walking to an from the store Ryan and I got invited into a wedding. Was awesome considering we we both fresh out of a day of shows, un-showered and in filthy clothes, but they toured us around the wedding anyways and tried to feed us even though we had just eaten. Discovering the New Town Cafe and the infamous Coffee Float, mmmm! Went out one night to a cineplex type thing and found A BAR!! So had a beer, really freaking hard to find where we were, Not kidding! Unfortunately towards the end of the month I learned that my Grandma Bauer had passed away and even more unfortunate I wasn't able to come home for the funeral. I loved my Grandma so much and was glad I got to see her over Christmas. I dedicated all the shows I performed in for the rest of the season to her and hope she was watching :) I crashed 2 more weddings, one of which was the most amazing thing I have ever seen, they constructed an entire temple structure just for this wedding. Complete with trusses of lights and a full camera crew projecting the wedding on 3 huge screen TV's so everyone in the back could see. There were thousands of people in attendance for this thing!! It was nuts! The last week of May we got taken out of the park to explore a tiny bit of India! We saw some temples, a really cool park/rock area, beautiful carvings in the rock, really annoying street peddlers, and of course MONKEYS!!

June- Well I must first admit that it is the 1st of December and I am finally updating this, so much for my plan of updating this month by month, but anyways here goes. I have my last day of performances in India on June 2nd and I started to come down with a little bug throughout the course of the day as each show got a little harder to do as I was getting dizzy. I developed a fever, but made it through the final day and have to say the last performance was a little emotional for me with ending the show and the passing of my Grandma that I was holding back the tears. On the 3rd I headed into the city of Chennai proper to do some shopping for souvenirs for everyone back home and thank goodness for Tylenol as that kept me feeling fine as I battled my fever. I had to say goodbye to my India team which was hard as I got into a cab with Jess and we headed to the airport. Said goodbye to Jess in Delhi. The plane ride back was long and full, but I somehow managed to sleep a lot and watch movies. When I landed and collected all my bags my wonderful Girlfriend Viola was waiting for me with a cute little sign to welcome me home and I felt so loved :) We took a cab back home and she nursed me a bit as I was still not feeling the greatest over the next couple days. After my return home I spent most of the month getting re-acclimated to the time change, spending time with Viola and eating all the wonderful foods that I missed while in another country. I got to help V relocate to her brand new apartment in Sunset Park by loading and driving a U-Haul and then speed unloading at the new place while the clouds and rain rolled in! Hooray for her being closer to me and in a new place!! She lives on the top floor and the elevator was broken, so that was a workout!! Later V and I go to see DJ Fat Pickles himself, Mister Dylan rock it out on the streets of New York! Near the end of the month V and I got on a plane bound for Chicago to attend the wedding of my cousin Lisa and her new hubby Chris. We arrived in Chicago picked up our rental car and did some exploring in Chicago, ate some food then drove back to the airport to pick up my sister Tia and her BF Steven. Drove back into Chicago and went to the Aquarium, walked to the Chicago Bean and then drove home to Milton. The next day V and I hooked up with Carl and Jess to go to Milwaukee for a Brewers Game, a meet up with the family for the wedding and then to Summerfest for a Billy Idol concert. Oh the fun that was had! We then went to Lisa's Wedding on the 29th and had an absolute blast, dancing and drinking through the night, SUPER FUN! One of my favorite memories was of V defrosting her frozen carrots and hummus with the hotel hair dryer haha, stupid ice cold hotel fridge! The last fun activity of this month was V and I and Tia and Steven spent a day in the Dells eating at Paul Bunyans and Mini Golfing at Pirates Cove!

July- V and I are still in Wisconsin and decided we are going to hit up America's Largest Water Park, Noah's Ark! V and I, Tia and Steven drove up to The Dells and spent the day at the waterpark! We went on every single slide in the entire park (except for the ones that were closed) My favorite was The Scorpions Tail, which is a drop, looping waterslide (the only one in America I do believe) Back in New York V and I spend the 4th of July together at her Apartment and are joined by friends of hers from the bar and even Michael Irish stops by for some vegan cooking! We were able to sort of see the fireworks from V's rooftop and it was a wonderful night! I start going regularly to Parkour at Brooklyn Beast getting my ass kicked by Basillio! I get my brand new headshots taken by Mr. Robert Kim as my old ones were more than 5 years old! Hannah and I go to shoot Archery for the first time out in Queens! V's good friend Katy comes to visit from Texas and we spend a fun filled couple of days together which included food, Rudy's and waiting in line for tickets to Book of Mormon only to be denied 1 person away from the ticket counter as they sold out. Womp womp. Thanks to Ray, myself and Calvin get booked to work as Batman and The Joker for a kids birthday party, which was very interesting haha but paid well! Thus Asian Batman and Midget Joker were created!! And yes if you have made it this far, there is video evidence of Calvin and I as Batman and Joker ENJOY! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xRRorSi8ix8

August- Well this month started with another Batman and Joker Kids party! Which was even more interesting than the first time! I also get a call from my good friend Jon who invited me to become a part of his show, The Whistling Mortician which will be performing in Baltimore for one weekend only. Most of this month was spent rehearsing for that show and going to Parkour. I work with and meet some awesome people in The Whistling Mortician as well as reconnect with some old friends- Liz, Marty, Casey, Amanda, Jensen, John and Jon. I also spent time hustling sets and training as I do haha. I shot some more Archery with Hannah, I get cast in a project entitled Tamburlaine the Great, which is being done by Madeline Lewis. I get my brand new headshots back from Mr. Kim both with and without the epic mustache! I met up with The one and only Shawn at the bar to catch up and talk about his new path of being a bar owner, WHICH IS AWESOME! Breaking bad returns to TV and V, Jenna and I coordinate watching the show on a weekly basis!! EPIC!

September- This month started with a Fun BBQ at V's apartment! Jenna came by and brought along her whip which I missed all the rooftop whipping due to having to run into the city for rehearsal!! Oh well, some of it was caught on video. Shortly after I headed down with The Cloud of Fools theater company to perform the Whistling Mortician at The Theater Project in Baltimore! Spent a few days in a hotel in Baltimore and Performed the show 4 times. A great time was had by all and audiences really enjoyed the show! Upon my return V and I hopped the Metro North to go visit Hannah who was recovering from her head injury. We stop by a local flower shop up in Yonkers which was quite the experience, considering the outside was pretty much a funeral home and the inside wasn't much better in terms of service. Spent the afternoon with Hannah relaxing and watched a movie before we headed back. I officially book a National Stunt Commercial for St George's University in which I get kicked in the face by a horse. I fly home for a weekend to celebrate Blaine's 60th Birthday with the family and a big party for the old man. But not before getting my flight cancelled for the first time in my long list of travels. When I finally get to Wisconsin, Nick, Blaine and I take a road trip up to New Glarus to visit the New Glarus Brewing company, which was beautiful and not just because of the beer! When I got back to NYC, I shot the commercial for SGU and the finished product can be seen here: http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DBNIK4PZV0xI&h=KAQFujBG- or another version here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rsJc48yzRQM&feature=c4-overview&list=UUrxC-m0Yv8nbjgKupA-rbwQ I also do some quick background work on the fan film web series MMPR, or Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, in which Madeline and I play scientists! SCIENCE!! I got to meet the stunt team and chat with them a bit including the very talented and amazingly nice dude Evan Taylor!! The end of this month V and I board a plane and head down to Texas to be with her parents, I was kind of nervous meeting the parents for the first time. As soon as we got in we picked up our rental car and began the journey and as nervous as I was everything was fine, I was pretty amazed with her parents and I hope the feeling was mutual. I got tickets for V and her parents and I to go to a Texas Rangers game!! We had tons of fun and I even attempted to eat a ridiculous burger that I finished about 3/4 of, not to bad. V took me to a local pool and we swam and played some over sized Jenga with her friend Matt. Had lots of fun with her parents going to dinners and lunches and I even helped Jeff a bit with fixing up the house they let us stay in.

October- Still in Texas V and I went to check out the State Fair of Texas. I could not believe some of the exotic animals that were on display, including a baby giraffe, camels, kangaroos and more.  I'm used to traditional farm animals at fairs! We walked around, got to take a ride in a inverted massage chair, V got some hair treatment, just a fun day :) Well after the week of fun in Texas it was time to head back to the city, we said goodbye to her amazing parents and headed to the airport. Back in NY, auditions are being held for a Live Marvel show, I go to the audition and get typed out, womp womp. (which means they took one look at me, asked like 2 questions and said thank you without allowing me to showcase anything) I did however run into Dylan, Evan, Wadi, Calvin, Jenna and a few other friends at the audition. V and I go to celebrate Oktoberfest just in the nick of time with a night out at Zum Schnieder in lower Manhattan. The food was amazing and we drank and drank and even sort of danced the night away, it was very crowded so it was more like bouncing than dancing. I join forces with Ray and assist him with a class at the NYFA, was fun to play with swords again. I make a deal with Viola and I help her remodel her room to get her all cozy and ready for her school to become a certified nutritionist!!! Woo Hoo!! I wear attire during the remodel which was of her choosing and I will spare you the mental image. V and I dress up 1920's style to go to a house party of a friend of hers with 2 of her other friends, crazy thing was there was a Milton High Graduate at the party, Small Freaking world! He was much younger than me but still, WHAT!?!? I decide to start running as a very cheap way to keep myself in shape. I do some background work on Inside Amy Shumer and earn my first SAG waiver!! Woo Hoo only 2 more to go!

November- Well this month Calvin and I don the Batman and this time The Candy Bandit for a kids Birthday party again. Yes I had to create a character to play as there was no Joker outfit, but Calvin and I pulled it off. I have a meeting with Garry to discuss working at his and Shawn's new bar "The Moonlight Mile" in Greenpoint Brooklyn. We will be specializing in bourbons and beer. I take V out to celebrate our 1 year just a tad early. I took her to Momofuku for some AMAZING Ramen, followed by a walk to the Museum of Sex (I wouldn't recommend it by the way, very dis-appointing but still fun) and finally an Off-Broadway production of Peter and The Starcatcher!! Black Stasche WAS the show!! The next day I'm doing some more background work, this time on the TV Show The Americans. Later this week while I was in the city trying to hustle, I stopped by Shawn's place and wound up hitting up the bar with Shawn and Bill. V joined us later for some fun. Unfortunately this month I learned that all good things must come to an end as V and I's relationship comes to a close. I took it pretty hard (and still am) but I wouldn't trade the time we spent together for anything. I was reminded what it was to be loved and I cant thank her enough for reminding me of that amazing feeling. Hannah comes out to Bay Ridge to chill with Double -Stuff Oreos and Jameson ready to go, our "first aid kit" I get a job working the front desk at Crunch Gym on Lafayette Street, doesn't take me long to hate it, but the free membership is worth it for now. I start to hit the bag after every shift at the gym. V and I spend Thanksgiving together as friends and make quite a meal of mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, jalapeno corn bread, Cornish game hens, mushrooms, vegan mushroom gravy and of course hot toddies! V's friend Christiane joins us for some food as well. I continue to run all this month increasing my distances and updating my progress via FB.

December- Well I train for what will un-expectedly be my last training session at Brooklyn Beast to start off this last month of the year. The Parkour gym that I have been accustomed to going to has now closed in-definitely :( I go out to Crown Heights to Alexa's place for a very friend filled "Friendsgiving" filled with all sorts of vegan food stuffs. Hannah, Jenna, Matthew and Aaron were all in attendance. Dina, Mimi and I throw our Annual Holiday party. Lots of food, friends and fun went down here at the apartment. Even Brad was here!! Shortly there after Hannah, Aaron, Alexa and I all rent a car and head up to Mt. Windham for my first ever attempt at snowboarding. Now its a good thing I actually enjoy falling down because I did a ton of it, but I started to get the hang of it by the end of the day. I talk Lauren into running with me (virtually) using the Nike+ running app! I took a train ride out to Long Beach, Long Island and met up with the one and only Miss Sarah Palermo!! Was great to hang with her at the bar and then get some breakfast for lunch afterwards! Cant wait to do it again! I met up with Grandmaster Theik for some good ole Fight Lab fun with Deanna, Calvin and Adam. Just like the old days!! Mom and Blaine fly in to spend Christmas here with me. Was a great time, I cooked them breakfast 2 out of 3 mornings, we went to eat lunch at Carnegie Deli and had drinks above Times Square at the Marriott. On Christmas Day Mom, Blaine and I met up with V and her parents at the Zeigfeld Theater to see "Wolf of Wall Street" About 5 minutes from the end of the film you cant miss ME on the BIG SCREEN!!!!, it was so exciting to see and meant so much to me that I could share that moment with my family as well as with V and her family. I break a distance record and go on a 10 mile run!! I meet up with Basilio, Hannah, Alexa and The long heard about bearded Man Sam in the city for a drink/food, followed by shooting Archery, and then more drinks and Food. Lauren joins me for New Years eve as we Skype with Jess and Ring in 2014!!!

Well there you have it!! 2013 was filled with some very high highs and some very low lows, just like any year I suppose. (Wow that rhymed) Again if you made it all the way through please give this note a like or leave a comment if you have a memory with me over the year that I missed.
